OFFICIAL COMPETITION RULES
Subnet #63 on Bittensor
Last Updated: April 2, 2026
Effective Date: April 2, 2026
These Official Competition Rules ("Rules") govern your participation in challenges, competitions, and related activities (each a "Challenge," collectively the "Competition") hosted on the Enigma platform ("Enigma" or the "Platform"), operated by qBitTensor Labs LLC ("qBitTensor Labs," "Company," "we," "us," or "our"). Enigma is Subnet #63 on the Bittensor network and is accessible through www.qbittensorlabs.com and directly via the Bittensor network.
BY PARTICIPATING IN ANY CHALLENGE, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE RULES, OUR TERMS OF USE, AND OUR PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, DO NOT PARTICIPATE.
1. Competition Overview
Enigma is a skill-based coding competition platform where participants submit source code solutions to innovation challenges. Each Challenge is designed to solve a specific technical problem and may be broken into one or more milestones, each with its own defined requirements and prize.
1.1 How It Works
Challenges are posted on the Platform with a detailed problem statement, milestone definitions, acceptance criteria, and prize amounts. Participants develop and submit source code solutions. Submissions are automatically validated by the Platform’s validation system. The first participant to submit a solution that passes all validation criteria for a given milestone wins the prize for that milestone.
1.2 First to Solve Wins
Enigma operates on a “first to solve” model. The first submission that passes all automated validation criteria for a milestone is the winner of that milestone. Submission timestamps are determined by the Platform’s systems and are final and binding.
2. Eligibility
2.1 Age Requirement
You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction (whichever is greater), to participate in any Challenge. By participating, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
2.2 Legal Compliance
You are solely responsible for ensuring that your participation complies with all laws, regulations, and restrictions applicable to you and your jurisdiction, including but not limited to export control laws, sanctions regulations, tax obligations, and any employment or contractual restrictions that may limit your participation. qBitTensor Labs makes no representation that participation is lawful in all jurisdictions.
2.3 Sanctions and Restricted Persons
You may not participate if you are: (a) located in, a resident of, or a national of any country or territory that is the target of comprehensive U.S. economic sanctions (including but not limited to Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions of Ukraine); (b) listed on any U.S. government restricted party list, including the OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List, the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) Entity List, or any equivalent list; or (c) otherwise prohibited from participating under applicable law.
2.4 No Employee/Affiliate Participation
Employees, officers, directors, contractors, and immediate family members of qBitTensor Labs LLC and its affiliates may not participate in Challenges or claim prizes, unless explicitly stated otherwise for a specific Challenge.
2.5 Account Requirements
Participation requires a valid account on the Platform. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy and security of your account information. Each participant must use a single account. Creating multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage is prohibited and grounds for disqualification.
3. Participation
3.1 Individual and Team Participation
Both individuals and teams may participate in Challenges. If you participate as part of a team, all team members must individually agree to these Rules and the Terms of Use. The team must designate one participant as the team lead and one account or wallet address as the prize recipient. All team members are jointly and severally responsible for compliance with these Rules. qBitTensor Labs is not responsible for disputes among team members regarding prize allocation or any other matter.
3.2 Submissions
Participants submit source code solutions through the Platform. Unlimited resubmissions are permitted — you may iterate and resubmit as many times as you wish until a winning solution for that milestone is accepted. Each submission is timestamped by the Platform’s systems.
3.3 Validation
All submissions are evaluated by the Platform’s automated validation system against the published acceptance criteria for each milestone. The validation system’s determination of whether a submission passes or fails is final and binding. qBitTensor Labs reserves the right to supplement automated validation with manual review at its sole discretion.
3.4 AI Tool Usage
Participants may use AI-assisted coding tools (including but not limited to GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and similar tools) in developing their submissions. However, if AI tools were used in the development of a submission, the participant must disclose this fact at the time of submission. Failure to disclose AI tool usage may result in disqualification. Regardless of AI tool usage, the participant is solely responsible for the correctness, originality, and compliance of their submission.
4. Prizes and Payment
4.1 Prize Structure
Each Challenge specifies the prize amount(s) for each milestone. Prize amounts are set at the time of Challenge publication and are subject to the terms described in the Challenge listing.
4.2 Prize Claim Methods
Winners may claim prizes through one of the following methods:
- Cryptocurrency (TAO Subnet Alpha): Prizes are distributed as TAO subnet alpha tokens on the Bittensor network. Cryptocurrency payouts are subject to network conditions, gas fees, and blockchain processing times. qBitTensor Labs is not responsible for fluctuations in token value, network congestion, lost or misdirected tokens due to incorrect wallet addresses, or any other issues related to cryptocurrency transactions.
- USD (U.S. Bank Account): Winners may elect to receive prizes in U.S. dollars via bank transfer to a U.S. bank account. A processing fee of ten percent (10%) will be deducted from the prize amount. USD payouts are subject to identity verification, tax withholding requirements, and applicable banking regulations.
4.3 Tax Responsibility
All prizes are subject to applicable taxes. Winners are solely responsible for reporting and paying all federal, state, local, and international taxes on prize winnings. qBitTensor Labs may require winners to provide tax identification information (such as a W-9 or W-8BEN form) before distributing prizes. qBitTensor Labs may withhold taxes as required by law.
4.4 Prize Conditions
Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable except as described in Section 4.2. No substitution of prizes is permitted except at qBitTensor Labs’s sole discretion. qBitTensor Labs reserves the right to withhold prizes pending investigation of potential Rules violations. Unclaimed prizes will be forfeited after ninety (90) days from notification of winning, unless a longer period is specified.
4.5 No Guaranteed Prize Pool
qBitTensor Labs reserves the right to modify, reduce, or cancel prize amounts or Challenges at any time prior to a milestone being won. In the event of cancellation, participants will have no claim to any prize or compensation for effort expended.
5. Intellectual Property, Code Ownership, and Assignment
5.1 Assignment of All Submissions
BY SUBMITTING ANY CODE, SOLUTION, ALGORITHM, DATA, OR OTHER MATERIAL TO THE PLATFORM (WHETHER WINNING OR NOT, AND WHETHER IN WHOLE OR IN PART) (EACH, A “SUBMISSION”), YOU HEREBY IRREVOCABLY AND UNCONDITIONALLY ASSIGN TO qBitTensor Labs LLC ALL RIGHT, TITLE, AND INTEREST IN AND TO SUCH SUBMISSION, INCLUDING ALL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS THEREIN AND THERETO, THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, IN PERPETUITY. THIS ASSIGNMENT INCLUDES, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ALL COPYRIGHTS, PATENT RIGHTS, TRADE SECRET RIGHTS, MORAL RIGHTS (TO THE EXTENT WAIVABLE), AND ALL OTHER PROPRIETARY RIGHTS OF ANY KIND.
This assignment is effective automatically upon submission and requires no further action by either party. To the extent any rights in a Submission cannot be assigned under applicable law, you hereby grant to qBitTensor Labs an exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid-up, sublicensable (through multiple tiers), and transferable license to exercise all rights in such Submission in any manner and for any purpose. To the extent any moral rights or other inalienable rights cannot be assigned or waived, you hereby waive and agree never to assert such rights against qBitTensor Labs or its successors, assigns, or licensees.
You agree to execute any documents and take any actions reasonably requested by qBitTensor Labs to perfect, confirm, or evidence this assignment, including assignments, declarations, or filings with any patent, copyright, or trademark office. If you are unable or unwilling to execute such documents, you hereby irrevocably appoint qBitTensor Labs as your attorney-in-fact to execute such documents on your behalf, which appointment is coupled with an interest.
5.2 Rights of qBitTensor Labs
As the owner of all Submissions, qBitTensor Labs may, in its sole and absolute discretion, use, reproduce, modify, adapt, create derivative works from, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, commercially license, sell, transfer, or otherwise exploit any Submission for any purpose whatsoever, without restriction, attribution, compensation, or obligation to you, except for the prize payment (if any) expressly provided in these Rules. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, qBitTensor Labs may: (a) review, analyze, test, and evaluate all Submissions; (b) incorporate Submissions into its products, services, or platforms; (c) commercially license Submissions to third parties on any terms; (d) use Submissions for research, development, and product improvement; (e) publish Submissions in any format or medium; and (f) exercise all other rights of ownership.
5.3 Open Source Release of Winning Submissions
Winning Submissions will be released as open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0) and distributed through www.qbittensorlabs.com and other open source software platforms, repositories, and distribution channels selected by qBitTensor Labs. By participating, you acknowledge and agree that winning Submissions will be made publicly available under AGPL-3.0 and that qBitTensor Labs retains full ownership rights and may additionally license winning Submissions under other terms (including commercial licenses) at its sole discretion, independent of the AGPL-3.0 release.
5.4 Consideration
You acknowledge that the opportunity to participate in the Competition and the possibility of receiving prizes constitutes full and sufficient consideration for the assignment of rights described in this Section 5. This assignment applies to all Submissions regardless of whether the Submission wins a prize.
5.5 Originality and Right to Assign
You represent and warrant that: (a) every component of your Submission is either your original work (or the original work of your team), your own invention to which you hold all rights, or included under a valid license that grants you the right to assign it to qBitTensor Labs as contemplated by these Rules; (b) you own, have invented, or hold a valid license for every line of code, algorithm, library, dataset, model, asset, and any other material included in your Submission; (c) you have the legal right and authority to make the assignment described in Section 5.1; (d) your Submission does not infringe or misappropriate any third party’s intellectual property rights, proprietary rights, trade secrets, or other rights; and (e) no Submission is subject to any agreement, obligation, or encumbrance that would conflict with or limit the assignment to qBitTensor Labs.
If your Submission incorporates open-source components, you must ensure that all such components are compatible with AGPL-3.0 licensing, properly attributed, and that their licenses permit the assignment contemplated herein. If your Submission incorporates proprietary or third-party licensed components, you must have written authorization from the rights holder permitting the assignment and licensing contemplated by these Rules, and you must be prepared to provide proof upon request.
Submissions that include any material to which the participant does not hold sufficient rights to make the assignment described herein will be disqualified, any awarded prize may be reclaimed, and the participant may be permanently banned from the Platform.
5.6 Indemnification for IP Claims
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless qBitTensor Labs and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, licensees, successors, and assigns from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to any breach of the representations and warranties in Section 5.5, any intellectual property dispute related to your Submission, or any third-party claim that your Submission infringes or misappropriates any rights.
5.7 No Confidential Relationship
Submission of code does not create any confidential or fiduciary relationship between you and qBitTensor Labs. qBitTensor Labs is under no obligation to use, publish, or incorporate any Submission, but retains all rights to do so at its discretion.
6. Code of Conduct and Anti-Cheating Rules
The integrity of the Competition is paramount. The following conduct is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification, forfeiture of prizes, and potential permanent ban from the Platform:
6.1 Prohibited Conduct
- Plagiarism: Submitting code that is copied, in whole or in substantial part, from another participant’s submission, whether obtained through hacking, social engineering, unauthorized access, or any other means.
- Validator Exploitation: Deliberately exploiting bugs, vulnerabilities, or weaknesses in the Platform’s validation system to obtain a passing result without genuinely solving the challenge. This includes submitting solutions designed to trick the validator rather than solve the underlying problem.
- Collusion: Coordinating with other participants to fix outcomes, share solutions, or otherwise manipulate the Competition, except among disclosed team members.
- Sockpuppeting: Creating or using multiple accounts to submit solutions, manipulate results, circumvent restrictions, or gain an unfair advantage.
- Interference: Attempting to interfere with, disrupt, or sabotage the Platform, the validation system, other participants’ submissions, or the Competition infrastructure, including through denial-of-service attacks, unauthorized access, or injection of malicious code.
- Reverse Engineering the Validator: Attempting to decompile, reverse engineer, or otherwise discover the internal workings of the validation system for the purpose of circumventing its intended function.
- Misrepresentation: Providing false or misleading information in your account registration, submissions, prize claims, or any communications with qBitTensor Labs, including failure to disclose AI tool usage as required by Section 3.4.
- Bribery and Corruption: Offering or accepting bribes, kickbacks, or other inducements to influence the outcome of any Challenge or the actions of qBitTensor Labs personnel.
- Harassment: Harassing, threatening, intimidating, or engaging in abusive behavior toward other participants, qBitTensor Labs personnel, or any person in connection with the Competition.
- Malicious Code: Submitting code that contains malware, viruses, backdoors, keyloggers, ransomware, or any other malicious or harmful components.
6.2 Investigation and Enforcement
qBitTensor Labs reserves the right to investigate any suspected violation of these Rules using any means available, including analysis of submitted code, account activity, IP addresses, and blockchain transaction records. qBitTensor Labs may, in its sole discretion, disqualify any participant, void any submission, withhold or reclaim prizes, suspend or terminate accounts, and take any other action it deems appropriate. qBitTensor Labs may refer suspected criminal activity to law enforcement authorities.
6.3 Good Faith Participation
Participants are expected to compete in good faith, with genuine effort to solve the Challenges as intended. The spirit of these Rules is as important as the letter. qBitTensor Labs reserves the right to disqualify any participant whose conduct, in qBitTensor Labs’s sole judgment, undermines the integrity or fair operation of the Competition, even if such conduct is not specifically listed in Section 6.1.
7. Disputes and Determinations
7.1 Enigma’s Decision Is Final
All decisions made by qBitTensor Labs regarding the Competition, including but not limited to the interpretation and application of these Rules, the validation of submissions, the determination of winners, the awarding of prizes, and the disqualification of participants, are final and binding and are not subject to appeal, review, or challenge.
7.2 Timestamp and Ordering
In the event that two or more participants claim to have solved a milestone at approximately the same time, the Platform’s system timestamp is the sole and definitive measure of submission order. qBitTensor Labs’s determination of which submission was received first is final.
7.3 No Liability for Decisions
qBitTensor Labs shall have no liability to any participant for any decision made under these Rules, including decisions regarding eligibility, validation results, prize awards, disqualifications, or any other matter related to the Competition.

IN NO EVENT SHALL qBitTensor Labs BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
8.4 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless qBitTensor Labs and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your participation in the Competition, your submissions, your violation of these Rules, or your violation of any third party’s rights.
