ENIGMA
Pressure testing the technologies the world depends on.
The world’s hardest problems — cryptography, AI, quantum computing, and beyond — tested by the world’s most relentless minds. Massive prize pools. Open results. Built on Bittensor.
// WHY ENIGMA EXISTS
The most important technologies in the world are tested behind closed doors — if they’re tested at all.
Cryptographic systems that protect trillions of dollars. AI models making autonomous decisions. Quantum algorithms no one can verify. Post-quantum standards the entire world is migrating to. These systems define modern life, and yet our visibility into their limits has never been lower.
Enigma changes that.
We create large prize pools that incentivize the world’s most relentless problem-solvers to stress-test, break, and improve critical technologies — openly, transparently, and for the benefit of society. Every solution is published. Every milestone is harder. The world gets a real-time signal of where the boundaries actually are.
Our first challenges target the most urgent problem in technology today: Q-Day — the moment quantum computers break the encryption the world depends on. Google Quantum AI estimates fewer than 1,450 logical qubits could break Bitcoin’s cryptography. IonQ’s roadmap targets thousands by the end of the decade. When Q-Day arrives, the world probably won’t know — unless something like Enigma exists.
Real-Time Visibility
A live, public signal showing exactly how far the world has progressed toward breaking the systems we depend on. Not speculation — verified, incentivized results updated with every milestone.
Open Solutions, Compounding Progress
Every winning solution is published as open source. Each breakthrough becomes the foundation for the next attempt. Difficulty escalates. Prize pools grow. The result is a public, compounding record of progress that didn’t exist before.
Open to Everyone
No institutional gates. Researchers, hackers, students, engineers — anyone can compete. Pay submission fees in USD via Stripe or natively in Alpha on Bittensor. No wallet required. Clear rules, published terms, no surprises. Read the full Competition Rules.

The people who will break these systems aren’t who you expect.
They won’t come from corporate research labs. They’ll come from apartments and basements around the world — unconventional minds with no institutional constraints and no incentive to play by the rules.
Enigma is open to everyone. Researchers, hackers, engineers, students — anyone who can write code and think creatively. Pay submission fees in USD via Stripe or natively in Alpha on Bittensor. No crypto wallet required.
If you can break it, you belong here.
// HOW IT WORKS
Sponsor Posts a Challenge
A company brings a hard problem — cryptographic, computational, adversarial. They fund a prize pool and stake Alpha in the network, aligning their incentives with the community’s.
The World Competes
Researchers, hackers, and unconventional minds worldwide attempt to crack it. They pay a submission fee and provide their verified source code. Unlimited resubmissions — iterate until you break it.
Solution Published
The winning solution is verified, the prize is awarded, and the code is published openly — becoming the starting point for the next milestone. qBitTensor Labs retains commercial licensing rights, meaning every breakthrough has both public value and commercial potential.
Difficulty Increases
The next milestone is harder. The prize pool grows. The cycle repeats — creating a real-time, public measure of progress that the entire world can watch.
